Vice President's Report

Sitting back and looking at how the Island Rock Crawlers Four-Wheel Drive Society has evolved makes me smile.

Our charter members all had ideas, dreams and goals of what the IRC would turn into. I had a vision for example, that most of our members would be extreme four wheelers.... I'm still working on that one though! If we had set a master plan back then, the IRC would be right on track— Camaraderie among fellow four-wheelers, a wealth of collective information, a used parts data base, our very successful clean-up run, the awesome Rock Crawl and our code of ethics—it's all there! It's not something we do casually or carelessly.

One other thing I especially like is the fact that we are making a positive impression on people. We are serious about four-wheeling. Through everyone's efforts we are becoming known as such. Keep up the good work!

We congratulate Linda and Dean on the birth of their daughter, Sarah. We offer our sympathy to Vern and Carolyn for the losses they have recently suffered. We wait in anticipation for the birth of Justin and Donna’s second child.

Rock Crawl '99 Update

After trying several sources, Steve Verseghy has secured insurance for the club, which will cover us for a full year. With the insurance in place, talks can begin with Timberwest. They have been most accommodating, and a llowed some of our trail committee to view maps of the areas we travel in. Everything else is in place--the food, the camping, the main prizes, and the trails we will run. In this upcoming month, members will be assigned to lead trails by the trail committee. Also members will be asked to commit to doing a job during the event, and sign up sheets will be presented at the March meeting. Registration is now complete. The event was filled in 8 days, with an enrollment of 107. With a little less than three months to go, the progress of this Rock Crawl Committee is astonishing. They have worked very hard, and the results are coming together nicely. Next, the trail clearing begins! Be sure to check with Wyatt to adopt a trail. Clearing will begin on April 25th.
