Sample Letter

To CRD Parks,

I am an OHV user who relies on the soon to be purchased Harbourview lands. I applaud the saving of “green spaces”, however the closure of Harbourview to our sport will greatly affect me. Harbourview is the only suitable land within the CRD that is not subjected to closure from the forest companies who manage 55% of the CRD’s green space.

I feel that the recreational needs of the hiking, equestrian, birdwatching, fishing, and cycling community are already met within the CRD. In Sooke, the Galloping Goose Trail, East Sooke Park and the Sooke Hills Wilderness/Mt.Wells Regional Park, will meet local hiking and cycling needs. The recreational needs of the OHV community must be met in Harbourview.

I believe in responsible use of OHV trails and I believe that designating Harbourview as a OHV park can be a viable and environmentally sustainable management plan for the CRD to undertake.
